Mike has been teaching yoga for the last 17 years. He discovered it when a neighbor loaned him a DVD entitled “Yoga Basics”. It didn’t take him long to fall in love with warm stretches, soothing voices, challenging poses, and the wonderful refreshed feeling after completing a class.
Soon after that he discovered various yoga studios after gaining the courage to inquire about classes, he began attending on a regular basis. Teacher training came next under the guidance of one of Indy’s premier yoga instructors, Nancy Schalk. After graduating from the 200 hour class, he was asked to serve as Nancy’s assistant in her classes of thirty plus students. His primary responsibility was to offer hands on assists to students as needed. It was an honor hold this position and coupled with his training allowed him insight into different body types. Here he developed a deep insight into the notion of an individual edge and the beauty of each students search for their unique access to a pose. This provided the foundation from which he has taught ever since.
