Yoga for the Golfer is a workshop designed specifically for those who want to get the most out of their golf game. Regardless of age, shape, size, level of strength and flexibility or handicap, we all have parts of our game as well as our physical and mental well-being that could use a little tweaking or upgrading. Let's face it, as we age, without maintenance, our bodies (mostly waistlines) expand and stiffen while our spines compress. This decreases the space throughout our bodies and the bottom line is - less space, less movement and fluidity, tighter shoulders and less spinal rotation (quite a detriment to the golf swing).
This workshop will introduce you to some of the most basic yoga poses through a sequence designed to lengthen the tight muscles of the back body ie; calves, hamstrings, glutes (butt) and hips as well as the entire back. We will also work with chest and shoulder openers, quadricep (thighs) stretches and finally spinal twists.
Through the use of props (straps, blocks and bolsters), you will be able to perform some version of all of the poses regardless of your physical abilities or limitations.
The class will move slowly with a lot of attention to alignment detail to keep your body stable, supported and safe. Remember, the tighter you are the less distance you need to travel to feel a stretch. Less work, maximum benefit. Life is good and about to get even better!
